Woman tells hospital staff she was shot in hand while walking in Logan Square

A woman walked into Norwegian American Hospital Tuesday morning and said she had been shot in the right hand while walking in Logan Square, according to police.

The woman, 26, told hospital staff she was shot in the 1600 block of North Sawyer Avenue around 5 a.m., police said.

The woman was treated and released before police arrived to talk to her.  Officers were unable to find a crime scene on the block and there were no calls about shots fired there, police said.

At least 58 people have been shot in Chicago so far this Fourth of July weekend.  Seven of them have died, according to data compiled by the Tribune.
