WCPO telethon raises money for veterans

CINCINNATI — Not a single veteran who served our country should ever come home to face critical home repairs.

WCPO – 9 On Your Side, in partnership with People Working Cooperatively, is hosting the third annual “Ramp it Up for Veterans” telethon on WCPO Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The fundraiser, which takes place on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (Dec. 7), will assist low-income elderly and disabled veterans, from all eras, with these challenges.

This year, thanks to a generous anonymous donor, we have the chance to match donations of up to $50,000. That means that if you donate Thursday during the telethon, your dollars will be doubled — and the impact your generosity can make will be doubled, too.

How you can help:

Call 513-719-4929 to make your donation between 4 and 8 p.m. Thursday. You can also click here to donate at any time. Every gift you make will help to eliminate the need of 300-plus veterans and their families who are waiting for our help. The impact will be huge for these hometown heroes who are waiting for emergency home repairs, home modifications and more.

The impact is yours to make. These dollars will directly help veterans in your community — maybe a neighbor, a friendly face at the supermarket, the person sitting next to you at church — all who have bravely served their country. We ask that you give generously and act fast.

Pass along information about our telethon to your family, friends, neighbors, fellow employees, associations, fellow alumni faith-based groups and/or contact lists.
