North Korea launches missile, South Korea's military says

South Korea’s military says North Korea has launched another ballistic missile.

The unidentified ballistic missile came from North Pyong’an Province that flew into waters east of the Korean Peninsula, according to South Korea’s military.

Japan’s defense ministry said the missile could arrive in its exclusive economic zone, a maritime area the country lays claim to.

The launch is part of a string of test-firings in recent months as the North works to build a nuclear-tipped missile that could reach the United States.

It wasn’t immediately clear if this was a routine firing of a short-range missile or an attempt to perfect North Korea’s longer range missiles.

This is a developing story.
