Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward hit two singles Monday night for Class-A South Bend in an 8-2 loss to Lansing.
Heyward, on a minor league rehabilitation assignment, is expected to rejoin the Cubs sometime during their six-game homestand that starts Tuesday. Heyward hasn’t played since June 18 because of a severe cut on his left hand.
Heyward grounded to short in his first at-bat before hitting a single to left and a single to right in his next two at-bats before leaving the game after six innings.
Heyward is 3-for-4 on his current rehab stint.
