The body of a man was found floating Tuesday in the East River, hours before thousands will flock to the nearby waterfront to watch the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks, officials said.
The man, who appears to be in his 40s, was found floating in the river near E. 6th St. at about 8:20 a.m., cops said.
His body bore no signs of trauma, police said. The city Medical Examiner will determine a cause of death.
The NYPD Harbor Unit responded and removed the body from the water, officials said.
The grisly discovery comes a week after the tattooed torso of a woman was found in Gowanus Bay, and days after a leg and foot was discovered near the W. 79th Street Boat Basin in the Upper West Side. These body parts are believed to be linked to a missing Union City, N.J., woman, Jennifer Londono, police said.
